Default Station Identification Request

Morning

I came across a station called "Blencathra" number 99143. I am
assuming it will be near Keswick in Cumbria. Does anyone have any
knowledge of its exact location and altitude and why its listed even
though Keswick AWS must only be a short distance away.

http://www.meteogroup.co.uk/uk/home/...bsid/99143.htm

Another I found in Cumbria is called Bridgefoot ? number 99137

http://www.meteogroup.co.uk/uk/home/...sid/99137.html

Any knowledge of these two sites anyone

Many thanks

The push pins on the maps at the bottom of the pages you linked to
aren't accurate? B-)

I am pretty sure that the Blencathrs climatological station is at the
Field Studies' Council site.

That opened in the eraly 1990s IIRC.

Thanks for the replies, will make some further enquires.

If they are "Climat" stations, how come the data is uploaded to the
net. The majority of Climat Stations are not included. Relying on
observers sending data to the Met Office via OWL etc, unless they have
their own personal weather stations running along side updating the
internet.

Dave - the pushpins are very inaccurate ! Spadeadam appears to be at
the end of my drive !

thanks
