Won £10 from Walkers Crisps Easy money !

I've done this twice and lost twice.
Both times I correctly predicted the area, once in the far
SW of Ireland and the other time the far north of Scotland.
However in both cases the rain was rather fragmented
and it was rather hit and miss, so I lost out.

What is clear to me on this is that most people are
simply claiming squares where they live as city areas
tend to fill up first, regardless of whether rain is actually
forecast for there.

There are definately some people who are actually
looking at the forecasts and placing their bets accordingly.

as money trying to get a winner

You pick a 4km square where you think it will rain on a given day (48
or 72hrs into the future) and select a 3 hr time period for that rain
(morning, lunch, afternnoon). If it actually rains (1mm for the
3hrs) you win a tenner.

I think if you register and fill in the survey you get one play and a
couple points. Each "Rainy Days" promotion crisp packet has a code
that you can enter to get more plays and points. Points give you
discount on a few online stores or entrance fees to the normal
attractions.

I'm £20 up on two plays so far. If it rains lunchtime tommorow
somewhere in the south Yorkshire Dales I'll be £30 up. B-)

Now 3/5 plays...

Be aware that seemingly identical packets of crisps have different
amounts of points and plays. Bought a pack of Ready Salted in the
local garage yesterday, 1 play 2 points. Bought packs of Prawn
Cocktail and Smoky Bacon in Asda last night 2 plays 4 points on each
pack. All packs are 34.5g ones. The number of points is on the pack
but not number of plays...

I'm beginning to wish I had started having a go sooner, the promotion
ends on 16th November and if I had started back on 13th September I
could have built up a nice little Christmas fund by now.

Anyway, I've predicted the following for the next few days, see how we
get on?

4th Nov AM - Highlands of Scotland
5th Nov lunchtime - Milford Haven
6th Nov AM - Isle of Wight.

I'm surprised a certain named town a couple of miles up the road from
me hasn't been making a killing with his notoriously accurate
forecasts!

Me too but I'm happy with my £30 so far, even if I have to share one
of the wins with No.1 Daughter as it was the code from "her" packet
of crisps that got a play that won.

Anyway, I've predicted the following for the next few days, see how we

4th Nov AM - Highlands of Scotland

Somewhere in central Aberdenshire, all the really good squares in
Scotland had gone yesterday... The 5th looks to be complety gone now,
the 6th very available, I need to look at the charts for the 6th.

consistency, no forecast and no bet!

Every time I send the verification off I wonder who on the newsgroup's going
to be 10GBP (or Euros) better off. As Joe's been saying it shouldn't be too
difficult for most of the well informed thinly sliced potato eaters on here
to harvest a good crop...

Even on careful study of every model's 'Niederschlag' option I've only
been right 40 per cent of the time - the Met Office output on the
metoffice.gov forecast radar site has been woefully out at times -
nowhere near as good as the UKMO output on Topkarten - though
obviously a big slice of the period was taken up by a showery north to
north-westerly type which is always hit and miss. Still I'm £80 up (on
a £9 stake) and didn't get going until October 3rd - my family have
also been grateful for my advice helping toward their Christmas
funds...

--------------
I must get in on this being an avid one bag of crisps per day man most
of my life - although due to a more healthy lifestyle I tend to go for
the salt and shake but don't add the salt. I like this taste as it
reminds me of my childhood days when Smiths left out the proper little
bag though I note the Walkers bag has at least shown nostalgic respect
to the colour. I was of course, a bit of a Meredith and Drew fan but
Golden Wonder smokey bacon have never been surpassed in my opinion as
the apogee of crisp favours.
