24.7 mm today to 1800Z.
This brings the total for July to 80.9 mm. The average for July is 64 mm, so we are 25% above average already. Who was it that said the dry weather in June was going to continue into July? Len Wood Wembury, SW Devon, 83 m asl |

Go outside your back door, take a deep breath, and give a good long blow in a sort of ENE direction. We're stuck on 8.1mm for July so far. Thanks. jim, Northampton |

Rain is on the way albeit not much. Someone's got to shift that jetstream. I am but a mere mortal. Len |

Jetstream today, to our south and the UK the wrong side of a big southward-looping Rossby wave, leading to a surface low.The "wrong" side of the jet for summer: http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn0014.png Forecast jet position by Sunday, with a Rossby wave looping to our north, leaving us in an area of sinking air, giving a lovely, settled, dry and sunny conditions for much of the UK. The "right" side of the jet for summer! http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn9614.png Hoping that will last for much longer, but it's presently a bit "fingers crossed", at best, for me. |

Yes - but blocking Highs are easier for the layman to understand. ![]() -- Paul Hyett, Cheltenham (change 'invalid83261' to 'blueyonder' to email me) |
