Should I worry?

I have friends travelling up from South Wales wednesday should I worry
about them or maybe warm them to take the M5 instead of the A roads?
Their route seems right in the firing line for a possible 25cm of
snow.

I think the short answer is "yes", although we will have a better idea
of Wednesday's likely weather in another 24 hours.

I'm also particularly interested in this as I'm meant to be travelling
from Malvern, Worcestershire to Rushden, Northamptonshire on Wednesday
morning. I really hope the weather won't put paid to my plans.

Some days ago I cancelled a planned trip from Tideswell to Brighton today,
returning on Thu 31st. I see no point in playing a meteorological version of
Russian Roulette :-)

........" maybe warm them" - the typo may be an omen. Always make sure there
is a blanket in the car in case they do get stuck although I think main
roads will be ok this early in the cold spell.

If it's purely a social visit I'd say don't go. Even driving in mod
snow with a little lying is bad, you don't need 25 cm to be in
possible trouble.

If this helps, the snow of 12 days ago caused a few problems here in
Northamptonshire. Although the main primary routes (A5, A43 S of N'ton, A45
Nene Valley Way, A14, and A6) were gritted satisfactorily, many of the other
main roads in the county weren't, most noticeably the A43 N of N'ton out to
Corby and Stamford. If it is snowing when you come up here, you may be
better to go up to the A14 and across to Thrapston.
