A month's rain in 4 hours!
Here in Surrey and across Sussex there is major event going on with severe
storms. In Coulsdon rain is now torrential, cascades of water down my hill and widespread flooding is now reported in the region. Could be big news. Lightning become very active and deafening thunder. Now shutting down. Ian Currie- Coulsdon- Surrey "Roy Avis" wrote in message ... Water is streaming in through my air bricks despite best attempt to sandbag. Not sure of the implications? Much of house is surrounded and drains have given up. Sky was very yellow but looking more normal grey now. How much longer here in Hampshire? Sarah |
A month's rain in 4 hours! [WR] v little in Central London
Not much here in Marble Arch, central London, so far.
A couple of rumbles of thunder around 11.15 and it's gone black and is raining more heavily now, but I'm wondering if that's preceding a clearance. - Tom. |

Not measured in a proper gauge but in a straight-sided container. 50mm of that fell between 9.30 and 12 noon BST. Unconfirmed report of over 100mm from Mytchett near Farnborough. From driving through it I'd say it has been even heavier over towards Basingstoke way. Easing off a little now (albeit still heavy) as the heaviest cell pushes north very slowly. Rob |

It's now 12.20 pm and it looks as if it was the onset of our part in the main event - it's been heavy for the past 25 mins, with thunder every 30 secs or so. Clouds still coming in from the SW, BTW. - Tom London W1. |
