Another rediculously mild month so far, the mean temperature for October is
running at 16C at London Weather Centre (18.6C mean Tmax) to 20th, and 15.7C
at Portsmouth. The forecast of more average weather at times next week may
take the edge of these, but the GFS hints at more unusually mild weather by
the end of next week.

October is currently about 1.5° warmer than 2005, which was in turn about 1°
warmer than 2004.

The year to end of September temperatures for 2006 and 2005 reveal only a small
difference however, so nothing crazy here (one's self excluded of course).

Just 12.9C here - though that's still well above average, of course.

Step changes of this kind (circa 1 deg. C per year) are of serious
interest if part of a consistent trend (highly uncertain).

24-hr mean in S. Devon (S. Hams) currently 13.7 deg. C (+2.6 C anomaly
from 1971-2000 eLTA). This is I believe exceptional, though we do live
in truly unprecedented times.

Today's max +16.9 Deg. C
Precip 4.4mm

Richard.

Dartington, South Hams.

I wonder if I will make it to November without having to put the heating on.
It will be a first if so.

You could make it through the whole winter if you wanted, though you
might get rather cold. :)

I sincerely hope not for those of us who enjoy cold weather.
