I'm researching my gift from Father Xmas. I'm not sure what's available but I think I require wireless internet connectivity and windows software to at a minimum routinely log each days total precip, max and min temps, pressure trends and (dependent on cost) wind speed too. Don't mind considering a range of costs and options but I've so far led my other half to believe Santa will need informing that budget will be in excess of £300. I know that I may be severely underestimating here but if any kind soul would please provide an opinion / recommendation on what can be bought for what money I'd be very thankful. Ross I picked up an Oregon WMR-928 for £189 on Ebay. No problems with delivery or description. I realise it ain't a Davis but for the money a pretty good buy IMHO. Let me know if you want a link to the Ebay seller? -- Gareth Slee |

Thanks Gareth.
That's a really pleasant surprise & I'll go google the model to find out more. Like you, I'm not looking for empirical precision but something that I can share output for my location (Moffat, Dumfries & Galloway) to one of the internet based weather station networks. Incidentally, the 24hr graph crashd my PC twice with a 'blue screen of death' but so does Tesco.com so I'm sure it's something wobbly with my computer setup and that's my problem to solve (maybe a new PC too with the savings ?!). (maybe a new PC too with the savings ?!). Or maybe a new Apple Mac :-) Or a different OS. My Linux based box that does the weather stuff and acts as my firewall/gateway, local mail, web and news servers is currently "up 101 days, 8:47". It's not longer because we had a power cut. I think the WMR928 uses the same protocols as my WM918 so there shouldn't be a problem with that side. -- Cheers Dave. pam is missing e-mail |
