Missing data and daily/monthly averages

I have about 48 hours worth of missing data for this month because my
phone line went down while I was on holiday and my Vantage Pro can't log
data for more than two weeks.

What's the usual practice with missing data and forming monthly
averages? I know I haven't missed any rainfall, but what about
temperatures? Do I just ignore the days with partial data and calculate
averages based on a 28-day month?
