Interesting edition of Panorama tonight indicating the Bush
administrations 'watering down' of the science proving Global Warming
and subsequent Climate Change. Nest programme on the 'Climate Chaos' is
BBC2 Tuesday at 9pm. I wonder how much is hidden from our view?

I was watching that too. Whilst there is every reason to suspect that
levels of carbon dioxide are not very different from what they have
always been, getting an intelligent discussion going with a government
using Himmleresque tactics to propagandise the antics of Exxon and the
chimp's other familiars is rather difficult.

It has never been a secret that the Bush administration is a criminally
stupid criminal regime. They passed a law that only librarians would
obey. That no librarians broke apparently. The Patriot Act.

The Yanks are a very strange people.

Come on Keith it was emotional and subjective. They never interviewed one GW
contrarian, Added to that, the fact that the UN runs the IPCC and the UN
have no problems in venting their spleens. against the USA. What this
programme was about was alleged pressure and censorship on USA scientist
actually NASA. Well in my experience of any Nasa output has always
acknowledged global warming.

Panorama has presented an emmotional leftish tinged view of the great satan
America. Why is it always America?

Further to my last thread . Nasa biased?

Okay crude it may be, but it is still an indication. A quick search on Yahoo
for Global Warming - 1,610,000 for nasa and global warming -

Then a search for Global Cooling - 389,000 for nasa and global cooling -

BBC clap trap.

It's not about NASA; it's about the Bush administration,
which is not the same thing.
Why is it always America? Because America is the most
profligate user of natural rescources, especially oil, and the
administration with its oil connections, and for other reasons, wants
to convince people that the effect of all this is negligible and seems
to be suppressing the truth in order to do so. Simple, really.

Interesting that with the British(?) oil workers in Nigeria being
kidnapped by the oppressed natives, the profligate BBC should send a
team to the Americas to interview John Piescoffed about his career
prospects.

Why not wait until he comes home? Or are they also interested in
something else?

I can't understand why they don't see global warming as an opportunity to
develop technologies to address the problem and create new business for
themselves. If they don't soeone else will.

It's a peculiarity of democracy that the most prolific polluters can
vote for the nuclear reactors to be erected at the furthest point from
which they can do the most good.

What would solve the emergency overnight is to have the reactors sited
in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, Liverpool and Newcastle and
the other large cities. It would be an idea too, to open up all the
secret records about the way they were and are built and run.

And all the cabinet ministers must live in houses next door to them in
perpetuity with no holidays abroad in the homes of rich politicians who
have already bribed fellow MPs and/or their spouses.

We'd all wake up one morning to find that Carbon and Sulphur Dioxide
emissions had not only dropped overnight but turned out to be healthful
all the while.

Why is the USA profligate and yet the inhabitants of the Islands that
constitute Tuvalu aren't?

Is it because they drive cars- well it's a big country just as is Australia
whereas Tuvalu is a collection of small Islands under threat from rising
sea-levels yet they all drive cars.

America is a vast country with weather extremes hence the use of energy for
heating and cooling.
The thing with the USA is the standard of living being relatively high means
that people are prepared to spend part of their income on energy. Further to
that it has to be said energy is not a tax rip off like here in the UK where
I believe petrol is taxed at 81%.

Other countries would be just as "profligate" if they could afford it or
their fuel had a lower tax rating.
So what should Bush do increase tax on fuel so that people pay more for it?
Then push up wage demands and raise business costs?.

No one holds a gun to anyone's head and makes them consume petrol or energy
in other states.

Off course the Labour Party buffoon Prescott, who wants to build a million
new homes in the south east to avenge his failure of the 11 plus, cares
greatly about Global Taxing......erm sorry cooling.

Why it was only yesterday in the USA , Rhode Island to be precise that
"Johnny two jags" gave a speech about the perils of global warming. In
typical "do as I say" fashion Mr Prescott was chauffeured to the conference
in a Jaguar car from his Hotel a couple of blocks away, or two hundred yards
to be precise!

This was the man who when asked about a particularly rough flight said he
was
"glad to get his feet back on Terracotta"
