I notice that on the BBC's UK Weather page, there is no longer an option to
see a Sea Temperature map. When the current setup first appeared, the sea
temps weren't linked to directly, but you could see them by directly typing
in the URL. Later on, that stopped and for months and months all you got
was a message saying the Sea Temps were "not currently available". Now the
thing's gone completely. What's going on here - are Sea Temperatures ever
coming back? If so, when? If not, why not? And why has there been no
explanation?

And while I'm at it, why does the temperature square above Newcastle
*still* use the wrong font for all but the current day? It looks horrible,
and yet nobody seems to have bothered to do anything about it. Yes, I did
send a (very polite!) email querying this, but as there was no answer (or
even acknowledgement), and nothing has been done, it doesn't look as though
they care how unprofessional it looks. Which is very.

(Mind you, this is the same BBC that says, "The cost of the new graphics is
not something we will go in to [sic]" - to which the obvious response is:
"Why not?")

How much CO2 would an elderly croquet player produce? Or for that
matter, when engaged in certain other "sports"?

Are there any statistics about the amount of CO2 generated by a human
when doing a range of activities? Surely I must be better for the
environment by sitting in front of my computer than neighbour Derek
(next door but one) who goes jogging every day?

I have heard it said that burial is more "green". That's what
we do with cats and hamsters. But it is difficult for a human to be
buried somewhere that is not so-called "sacred ground". We
non-believers are disadvantaged yet again, so I feel I have little
choice but to be cremated. But I will look into woodland burials as a
possibility.

Yep, though Firefox at least seems to have TIF viewing capabilities
built-in from the start, so it's not a problem anyway. As you suspect,
it's not a complete lack of data that annoys me, but the poor
response (in more than one sense) of the BBC to what are seemingly
very simple problems. I'm frankly nothing short of astonished that
the "wrong font" problem has been allowed to persist so long.
