Ten years ago it was 0.1mm per year. If this continues it will be
1cm per year in ten years time, 0.1 m in twenty years time and
1m per year in thirty years time.

Cheers, Alastair.

That just shows the asinine nature of the global warming debate and I don't
have much time for it as a result.

No, it's your feet which will get wet first.

Art Bell had someone on talking about Climate Change on Friday night.

Gotta pay to listen to it though

One millimetre. Over what period?

One millimetre. Over what period?

Between three and four years. Science Magazine.
http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/abstract/1123785

ABSTRACT EXTRACT:

"Using measurements of time-variable gravity from the Gravity Recovery
and Climate Experiment (GRACE) satellites we determine mass variations
of the Antarctic ice sheet during 2002-2005. We find that the ice
sheet mass decreased significantly, at a rate of 152 ± 80 km3/year of
ice, equivalent to 0.4 ± 0.2 mm/year of global sea level rise. Most of
this mass loss came from the West Antarctic Ice Sheet. "

Incidentally, I have read reports based on other respected scientific
surveys stating that in Central and East Antarctica, the ice sheet is
thickening. I am neither denying GW nor man made GW, but the ALL the
facts should be reported (this is not aimed at you, Tudor - or
anyone).

A climate of fear.

There are no facts.

What really happens is that when a new feature of the planet or the
solar system is reported it is PRed as a new threat to man.

That's why the Americans killed all the Injuns and all the farmers
drained the marshes and all the climatologists banned fridges. And all
the factory owners chopped down the trees. Something out of hand there.

I've just been watching something about climate on the OU. Some
dendochronologist was sweeping facts past me faster than I could play
devil's advocate but what crossed my mind at the time was how he would
deal with the situation on here where some are reporting droughts and
some are squelching through their kitchens.

There is probably a control to the art but it all sounded a bit tenuous
to me. So how do you present information that isn't partisan yet
remains interesting? Perhaps interjecting words such as "..the theory
has it that.." and "..it might be so and so...".

I'm still struggling to understand how Ice can carry rocks, so I am a
lost cause. We have to learn to believe stuff like that by the time we
are 10.

Or perhaps someone aught to open up a viable alternative to the BBC?
I'd like that job. Beware fervent narration.
