"whilst northeastern areas valiantly hold on to colder temperatures with

Huh? What's "valiant" about that? Weird choice of phrase!

The "pathetic fallacy" is when human emotions are attributed to
non-human beasts. I suppose this is an extreme case.

Did they really remove it or did Neil do some "media" handywork to it?

p.s. next time how about something like

'Thereafter the balance between the cold, insidious air over the continent
and the feisty warm & righteous Atlantic air looks set to continue,
southwestern areas of our great Kingdom continuing temperate and fickle,
with the good rain and joyful winds, whilst Northeastern outposts

stalwartly
battle cold foreign forces with dark clouds and still Jack Frost and the
Devil himself casting their evil white shadow.

Yes, I was mildly surprised when I read the word 'valiant' in context as
quoted (at least at about 4.00 p.m) today. Perhaps a different author trying
to nudge away from a formulaic script now that he/she has a bi-monthly
remit.
