Hurricane Todd?

This evening Todd eluded to the fact that Charle might strike New England as
a hurricane. He told people to use Saturday as a day to get their boats etc
safe.
Now does he honestly feel this or is it for drama (ratings)?
I think his comments were without foundation.

If it hits NE after only a brush over the outer banks on the way north from
Daytona, it is at least possible. The odds of that outcome might be rather
slim...but it has happened in the past (notably, Hurricane Donna). OKX is
hinting at the possibility of Charley still being a potent tropical system
in the northeast:

What was the synoptic upper air pattern when Donna took aim on NE?
Similar to now?

The devil is in the details, but most likely there were similarities. Most
landfalling hurricanes in LI/SNE have been steered by southerly winds along
the east side of an upper trof such as we have now. They are most often
preceeded by days of unrelated rains.

Hurricane Todd?

And most land falling hurricanes don't travel through hundreds of miles of
subtropical cold waters and landmasses, nor do they get embedded within
strong southwesterly shear and frontal systems. Anyone who thought this
thing would reach New England as a truly tropical system, let alone a
hurricane needs to go back to school. Drama Todd yet again should stick to
wishcasting winter storms.

True, except for the ones that impact the NE.

Tropical or extratropical, I thought it would hold together better than it
seems to be. Its getting torn to pieces only over the past couple of
hours.

Drama Todd
yet again should stick to wishcasting winter storms.

Well you have been proven correct: as of 2AM Charlie is a 40 mph TS
rapidly transitioning to extratropical.
