Guildford 07/01/06 10:28Z
Temp 0.4°C
Dewpt -0.3°C
Baro 1024.0mb Steady
Rain 0.0mm

Slight snow continues, but probably for another hour and that will be it.
Some moderate snow earlier, that settled on roads for a while.
Estimated 1cm or so on grass but enough for my daughter to make a snowman,
(but Paul, not enough to get to WMO standard)

Zeta - goodbye - New Records Set by
BlueLightning
I SUPPOSE IT IS ONLY FITTING THAT THE RECORD-BREAKING 2005 ATLANTIC
HURRICANE SEASON ENDS WITH A RECORD BREAKING STORM. TODAY... ZETA
SURPASSED 1954 ALICE #2 AS THE LONGEST-LIVED TROPICAL CYCLONE TO
FORM IN DECEMBER AND CROSS OVER INTO THE NEXT YEAR. ZETA WAS ALSO
THE LONGEST-LIVED JANUARY TROPICAL CYCLONE. IN ADDITION...ZETA
RESULTED IN THE 2005 SEASON HAVING THE LARGEST ACCUMULATED...

WR: Cranleigh, Surrey - 7th Jan by
John Hall
Drizzle turned to fine snow about 9am. Settling quite readily on the
grass but not on most other surfaces as yet. Quite a surprise given this
morning's forecast and our low elevation (100m).

Today's model interpretation (7/01/06) by
Darren Prescott
Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon on Wednesday. Issued
0531, 7 Jan 06.
The models persist in showing a mobile (near zonal) setup for the middle of
the week with all areas at risk of strong winds and rain. As usual, it'll be
southern and eastern areas of England that'll see the least wind and rain.

Woke to a covering of snow this morning to my surprise, after our 6 cms
in November I didn't think I would see anymore until April! (Sorry
couldn't resist)
Max today 1.1c
Min -1.1c
Still can't see that 6 cms being beat, at least not until March or
April!
Don't you just hate these boring Winters months we now have to endure?
