This is depressing. Not only is the weather now in a rut, but I'm starting
to get deja vu @ 360+

[WR] Dartmoor 8/1/06 (Heavy snow) by
will@lyneside.demon.co.uk
Just come back from a walk up and around Ryder's hill (south moor)
circa 500m asl. Started at 1000 at 270m asl and just started snowing.
Reached summit around 1200 with 3 cm powder in continuous snow and
slight wind chill with temperature below freezing. On descent snow got
heavy with 5cm sized flakes, best snow I have seen for a while! Coming
down below 200m it got wetter with little snow lying...

Winter 'heatwaves'... by
nick150971@yahoo.co.uk
If nothing else the end of this week will enable us to experience what
happens in winter when a setup that would give a 30+C heatwave in
summer occurs....
I suspect very different from what could happen in less than four
months time, i.e. overcast, quiet weather with temperatures close to
normal.

"Here is an early warning for SAD" ... by
Martin Rowley
(SAD = seasonal affective disorder)
Well, you never know! Using the Heathrow sunshine figures, this month /
year so far has seen a grand total of 2.2hr, and seems quite
disappointing set against the markedly above average sunshine of
November & December just past. (See Philip Eden this newsgroup & he-
http://www.climate-uk.com/monthly/0512.htm )
Reminds me that at London Weather Centre...

Greek weather update by
Yannis
Good morning, everyone.
The start of 2006 has been thundery in areas of Greece, including Athens,
and -yet again- snowy in the notorious northwest of the country. The early
January mix contained it all, from ice days in western Macedonia to very
mild 17C's in the SE Aegean isles. Athens is already counting 2 days with
thunderstorm and is getting prepared, along with eastern continental...

Today's model interpretation (9/01/06) by
Darren Prescott
Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon on Friday. Issued 0533,
9 Jan 06.
The models continue to show changeable weather for the UK. Low pressure
looks like remaining near Iceland, with secondary lows caught up in the
circulation and weakening troughs crossing the UK. As usual temperatures in
such a setup would be average to above average, with the greatest amount of
rainfall...
