Cold in Penzance but . . by
Graham Easterling[_3_]
The wind has been ESE most of the night so, despite clear skies, the
minimum was +0.8. (At Newquay, with the wind offshore, it dropped to
-4C)
This contrasts with the cold of last week, when the the wind was ENE
down the spine of Cornwall, resulting in a record February low of
-4.8C
08:45 +2.8C & sunny, lovely sunrise.

Southend colder airs arrived... by
Keith Harris
Peaked at +1.1°C @11:45 with hazy blue skies.
Now a very clear blue sky and dropped back to -0.2°C in full sunshine.
Dew Point -8.1°C Wind ENE 7mph
Had to find my grass minimum device under 4 inches of snow still on
the grass with a crust both at the top and bottom.
*Could* be my coldest night tonight, although being near the coast it
may hold it up somewhat compared to more inland locations....

Today's model interpretation (8/02/12) by
Darren Prescott[_4_]
Here is a summary of the NWP output for noon on Sunday.
Issued 0450, 8/02/12
Early next week high pressure is likely to transfer westwards, with
westerlies and SW'lies for a time across most of the UK (the far SE may stay
under a weak ridge). As the week progresses high pressure is likely to build
to the west. bringing a spell of NNW'lies or NW'lies across the UK with a
risk of snow in the...

(WR) Weston Coyney by
Graham
Clear night last night saw temperatures drop to -3.2c, bright start today
but soon turning cloudy, at least there was no fog.
Almost an ice day as temperatures really struggled under the cloud to reach
0.1c but falling away again now.
No thaw today at my station so 2 to 3cms of hard frozen snow around 80%
cover.
Still fairly cloudy and getting breezy with humidity dropping.
Current temp ...

Quick assessment 7/2/12 by
Eskimo Will
This is the way I see it with no reference to models etc. Extremely cold
boundary layer air is flooding into the SE now with dewpoints falling
to -15C in places later. Very dry air and clearing away the fog and cloud,
lowering the wet-bulb and will preserve remaining snow cover. One or two
snow showers possible. In the next two days this air will spread quite
quickly west and north covering...
