Just missed out on an ice day yesterday with a high of 0.1c much better
chance today with a high of -0.3c and it's well below now at 21.00.
Since 17.30 on the 6th the temperature has only been above freezing for half
an hour yesterday.
Looks like touch and go here between freezing rain and snow, can't see
anything like the snow we had on Saturday, but should be interesting.
Current temp :...

Just been looking at the town of Orange in southern France on XC Weather
where they are reporting a temp of minus 4C dewpoint minus 15c and a wind
gust of 60 mph ! That should dry the washing nicely....

garden birds and continental cold by
JT
OK a bit OTish, but here in Dorridge Solihull, where pressure at 1043.8 at
midnight and current temp of 0.8C, I have had a record count of garden
birds.
Front garden a 3m crab apple at 1130 had on it and under it a flock of 38
redwings, two fieldfares, three song thrushes and four blackbirds. In the
back garden on my four feeders and below on the floor, as I type, 13
blackbirds, two collared...

Netweather. snow Thursday by
No Name
"As we move through tomorrow the forecast uncertainty grows, but it's
likely as the front moves further south and east it will increasingly turn
to snow. Currently it's expected that the midlands, East Anglia, central
and southeast England are most at risk but this is subject to change. There
is the potential for accumulations of 10-20cm in affected regions and
disruption is likely, so please...

Effects of very cold continent ? by
Keith (Southend)G
I can't remember the near continent being quite so cold as it
currently is and I wonder whether the models are allowing for this.
Zonality seems to be struggling to establish itself, and I doubt the
UKMO medium range forcast will be correct.
Then there's this northerly scenario that the models keep thowing into
the ring.
Of course we could just stay on the edge of the action, but the SE in
the...

Colder conditions to continue in the east, under anticyclonic conditions? by
Dawlish
A little consistency now that the anticyclonic conditions may re-
establish themselves after a messy and difficult breakdown. Nothing is
in any way sorted here and this morning's indications are that the
cold - even the easterly flow - may continue to affect the east of the
UK particularly.
This is why it is necessary to wait for the agreement and consistency
before committing to forecast at 10...
