Otter Valley, Devon - Double digit warmth continues.... by
Nick Gardner
The last few weeks have predominantly seen daily maximum temperatures
10°C. Only one day out of the last 14 days has not reached a
temperature higher than 10°C, and that was the 2nd Jan with 9.0°C.
The minimum temperatures have also been correspondingly high too,
despite several clear, calm, starry nights the temperature failed to
fall and no air frosts have been recorded in the last two...

Interesting rain radar images today by
Adam Lea[_3_]
Looking at the Met Office rainfall radar throughout the day it seemed to
be a very good example of orographic enhancement in Western Scotland
with moderate to heavy rain over the mountains in the west but very
little rain in the Moray region. Then about 16:30 it was like a barrier
had been lifted and the greens and yellows surged eastwards over the
Grampian region. Still looks like the east...

Critique of recent tabloid weather predictions by

An intreresting article in this morning's paper. Should provoke some
discussion.

Ties in well with the thread about "BBC Weather Test"

Xmas streamers by
Joe Egginton[_3_]
My RF weather station is working again, now I've taken the metallic
Christmas streamers down. I was thinking it was the batteries in the
thermometer, I was worried even with new batteries in, the base station
wasn’t receiving outside temps. When I took the streamers down
yesterday, hey presto, the base station was receiving outside temps.

The Weather Show - Low Pressure Australia by
Teignmouth
It looks like the BBC Weather presenters don't know which way air
rotates around Low Pressure systems in the Southern Hemisphere. Watch
the latest Weather Show on the BBC iPlayer around 3:30 mins, and they
have Low Pressure over Australia rotating anti-clockwise instead of
clockwise.

Back to school for them this week!

[WR] violent storm, central lowlands with mega gusts by
Alex Stephens
Strongest winds i have ever seen, currently battering Lanarkshire.
Think these must be the strongest winds in the central lowlands since
the Glasgow hurricane in 1968.
Top 10 minute mean wind speed at my site is 63mph, and highest gust so
far is an astounding 104mph. At least 3 other gusts over 90mph, and
regularly over 80mph.
There will undoubtedly be no end of damage. Surprised we still have...
