The last few weeks have predominantly seen daily maximum temperatures 10°C. Only one day out of the last 14 days has not reached a temperature higher than 10°C, and that was the 2nd Jan with 9.0°C. Looking at the Met Office rainfall radar throughout the day it seemed to be a very good example of orographic enhancement in Western Scotland with moderate to heavy rain over the mountains in the west but very little rain in the Moray region. My RF weather station is working again, now I've taken the metallic Christmas streamers down. I was thinking it was the batteries in the thermometer, I was worried even with new batteries in, the base station wasn’t receiving outside temps. It looks like the BBC Weather presenters don't know which way air rotates around Low Pressure systems in the Southern Hemisphere. Strongest winds i have ever seen, currently battering Lanarkshire. Think these must be the strongest winds in the central lowlands since the Glasgow hurricane in 1968. Top 10 minute mean wind speed at my site is 63mph, and highest gust so far is an astounding 104mph. At least 3 other gusts over 90mph, and regularly over 80mph. There will undoubtedly be no end of damage. Surprised we still have...
