Windy again at Haytor by
Eskimo Will
Despite being told it would be less windy today, the wind is just as gusty
and strong as yesterday.
Already minor branches have been snapped off and the wind is roaring over
and round the chimneys.
Temp +6.6C at 1640, so around normal.
Awaiting the rain, for which dartmoor is famous for :-)

Today's model interpretation (5/01/12) by
Darren Prescott[_4_]
Apologies for the lack of an analysis yesterday; I was without power.
Here is a summary of the NWP output for noon on Monday.
Issued 0448, 5/01/12
Zonality continues to affect the UK with the south of the UK likely to see a
fair bit less rain than further north due to high pressure over or near
France. Towards the end of the week ECM brings colder conditions but that's
not supported by GFS.

De-iced by
Len Wood
My Airbus 320 needed 15 mins de-icing (power wash snow off and then a
nice thick green layer of de-icing liquid, urea I believe) before able
to fly back to Heathrow from Helsinki yesterday.
Not that cold there during my stay. Mainly just above zero but did
fall to -7C on New Years Eve after a light covering of snow.
Only started to snow in earnest yesterday.
Got to Finland on Boxing day just...

Oops! by
David Allan
My weather report sent earlier this evening for Sunderland should have had
today's date (4 Jan) and not as it did (3 Jan). That's the trouble with
Christmas and the New Year, you forget what day of the week it is... sorry!
Regards... David Allan.

Calmer weather on the way by

There now seems to be good model agreement for a more HP dominated
pattern from the weekend onwards. Hopefully we will see some clear
conditions at times with night frosts developing.
