First greek snow of the season a fact by Yannis
Hi, everyone. The first snow fell during the night in the mountains of Central Macedonia. The Mt. Kaimaktsalan station reported down to -1.4C and precipitation and this morning webcam pictures showed a blanket of snow. Interesting to see how this weekend's low (with some tropical characteristics) will develop over the Ionian sea.

Today's model interpretation (18/09/08) by Darren Prescott[_2_]
Note: I've to leave early today - hence this is a shorter analysis. Normal service will be resumed tomorrow morning. Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon (GMT) on Monday. Issued 0453z, 18th September 2008. The first half of next week will see high pressure over Scotland and Northern Ireland, with the potential for some cold nights should skies stay clear. England and Wales...

Dense high cloud in Brussels all day by Colin Youngs
Brussels on Wednesday 17th September Hazy sky with extensive dense high cloud all day and some medium-level As and Ac at first which gradually cleared. Weak sunshine in the morning with some Cu towards midday. As on previous days, this increased in amount and then spread out into Sc during the afternoon, cutting off the sunshine. Lower cloud cleared after 17.00 local time to reveal the...

October Storm and Burns Day Storm by Richard Dixon
Hi Folks, Wondered if any of you seasoned observers are able to remember any of the recorded wind speeds in London from the above two events in 1987 and 1990 respectively. I often see the London Weather Centre wind speeds quoted, but that, as far as I'm aware, was at the top of a building - was wondering if there were any "ground level" wind speeds recorded using standard instrumentation?...

[WR] Heading for a drought! by Nick Gardner[_3_]
Blimey, we must heading for a drought! Now on my 5th day without any rainfall. This is the longest dry spell since the 28th of July when there were 8 consecutive dry days (the only dry spell) in what was a very wet month. Despite this, 82.2 mm of the wet stuff has fallen this month so far. Sunshine levels are still pitifully low with only 52 hours (1st - 16th). (19:00), 13.8°C, RH 79%, DP...

Penzance 17/09 - [WR] by Graham Easterling[_2_]
Spells of sunshine (yes sunshine!) this morning pushed the temperature up to 17.3C at 11:45, then the cloud developed and spread out in a layer. Still blue sky tantalisingly close just to the south, just clipping the southern points of the Penwith (Land's End) penisula, it just needs a bit more breeze to push the cloud back inland. Yesterdays max of 16.1C lowest since 15.7C on 5th July. There...
