Did the weather warnings change in the night? by
Dave Cornwell
I think Jon was right when he said it was a difficult situation to forecast.
I can't see the heavy rain on the weather warnings for the S.E overnight
anymore, altough I believe still possibly some thundery rain is forecast.
Back to the nowcasting, and look out of the window for a while , I guess.

Happy St. Swithins Day by
Bertie Doe
Is there are more reliable forecast for the next month or so? or is long
range forecasting dependant on the position of the (overhead?) jetstreams.
Does anyone have a link to a site which shows current jetstream positions
for UK. TIA.

Today's model interpretation (15/07/07) by
Darren Prescott
Here is a summary of the NWP output for 12z on Thursday.
Issued 0547z, 15th July 2007.
The weekend looks like seeing unsettled weather spreading in from the west
to affect all areas of the UK by Sunday. Beyond that a southerly tracking
jet will bring further unsettled and cool conditions across the UK.
Analysis and evolution to T+120 via...

Jan - June 2007 rainfall? by
Dave Cornwell
Having seen the news items with some places having three to four times their
average June rainfall I wondered if anyone has any lower values for June and
year to date than me?
June - 34 mm, 64% 1971-2000 mean (approx)
Jan-June 2007 - 261 mm, about the average.
Dave, Laindon, S.Essex.

Summer evening on Wearside... by
David Allan
The clouds have parted, it's not raining and next door but one has lit their
first BBQ of the season... summer has undoubtedly arrived.
If I hadn't seen the weather warning from the Met Office I'd be almost
beside myself with glee. Live for the moment I say, because by this time
tomorrow it's likely to be lashing it down again with thunder and other
stuff thrown in for good...

Not bad for SE by
Keith (Southend)
Fairly good here in Southend-on-Sea today, temperature currently 22.3°c
and feels muggy. Looking at the satellite I think that development to
the SW will run up the west of the Country and give us another good day
tomorrow before the storms tomorrow night.
Looking good for tonights BBQ :-)

Dismal Friday evening... by
David Allan
No wonder sales of BBQ stuff are down... yet more persistent rain is falling
across Wearside this evening... it's been raining for six hours now!
It's the 'summer' fair at my daughter's school tomorrow (the forecast, if to
be believed, is OK), but I've just noted the weather warnings that have been
issued for Sunday by the Met Office.
Was it the Daily Express that was warning us all not so...
