I'm confused :-) by
MCC[_3_]
On their 0700 report, RNAS Culdrose are giving weather conditions as "Fog"
but are reporting visibility of 20 kilometres.

How do they reconcile that, please?

[WR] Otter Valley, Devon - Another Dull August by
Nick Gardner
Even with the high amounts of sunshine today and yesterday, this August has
turned out to be rather less sunny than normal with the total monthly
sunshine going to be around 173 hours.
You have to go back to March (156 hours) this year to find a month with less
sunshine.
Even so, this will have been the sunniest August since 2007 and a testament
to how bad the last two Augusts have been.

Early indications suggest that August 2010 was the coolest in Coventry

Mare's Tails by
Weatherlawyer
I was looking at the sky just before the rain on Saturday (28th
August) and saw mares tails. Later that weekend I heard a report of
the volcanic eruption in Indonesia so I crossed it off my which-list:
When I saw the sign I remarked to a neighbour:
"Mare's Tails. Severe hurricane in the Atlantic somewhere and it's
going to be a biggie."
She just said in that complacent tone used by couch...

Summer returns to S.Essex by
Dave Cornwell
After a couple of less pleasant weeks, albeit with some welcome rain, this
afternoon has returned to clear blue skies and a max of 21.4C. Perhaps of
more note is how generally warm this summer has been here. The last max
below 18C was back on June 20th. Mean max currently standing at 23.6C since
that date.

[WR] Otter Valley, Devon - Summer's Back! by
Nick Gardner
What a stunning day!
Unbroken sunshine right from the start. And it was a very chilly start with
a minimum of 3.4°C making it the coldest August night in my record. It was
also colder than any minimum I've recorded in September, and the coldest
night since the 17th May (2.3°C).
A max temperature of 22.1°C, makes today the warmest day since the 22nd.
Today is also the first day since the...

Summer back in the SW by
Dawlish
A lovely morning. Blue skies, sunshine, light winds and 15C by 0800.
It has the makings of a gorgeous late summer's day. pity for the east
that they'll hang onto ome clag right through to bank Holiday Monday,
but you know what they say: "West is Best"! *))
Get in your motorhome and enjoy the M5, I say! I don't take the car
out of the garage on Bank Holiday weekends, if I can help it. A walk

Today's model interpretation (31/08/10) by
Darren Prescott (via Google)
Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon (GMT) on Saturday.
Issued 0439z, 31/08/10.
SE'lies or SSE'lies will cover the UK for the end of the weekend, with
a high to the NE and a low to the west. It's likely that the low will
move slowly ESE'wards, with an increasing risk of rain spreading from
the south into next week.
