[WR] Whistlefield: Thunder. by
Alan White
At about 17:45z, a few rumbles of thunder to the west followed by a
darkening sky and what looked like a ferocious storm tracking up Loch
Long. See:-
http://windycroft.gt-britain.co.uk/P7251039.jpg
All we experienced were some bursts of heavy hail each lasting a few
seconds.

Folks,
All of our daily weather records (MO) and European Weather
Bulletins from the 50's and 60's until 2000 are going to be thrown in
a skip later this week. Anyone like them?

Slow flow on the Thames? by
Tom Bennett
It seems to be taking a long time for the flood water to get down the
Thames, although I appreciate floodwater can take some days to get away in
these circumstances.
Are they regulating the lock gates, mid-reach, to relieve any problems lower
down, I wonder? The lower Thames in London appears normal at the moment
and I would have expected some extra flow by now in central London, bearing...

[WR] Haytor 24/7/07 (summer returns) by
Will Hand
Well after a damp 22mm of rain yesterday, summer has returned today.
Sunny periods, excellent visibility, light winds (force 2-3), scattered cumulus
and a warm day with a max. of 19.9C!
Summer doesn't get much better than this.
Will.

[OT] Red Kite? by
Dave Cornwell
I have seen quite a few red kites in central and southern England in recent
years. Coming back from Christchurch tonight I thought I saw one circling
just off the A3 between Guildford and Wisley. Is this likely. Ping Phil?
Incidentally the last three days have been very pleasant in Essex and on
the above mentioned stretch of the south Coast, warm, dry and now with
beautiful clear air giving...

(This posted, not for the cognoscenti of this illustrious ng, because
it is a 'given', but because I know that people 'in the loop' in BBC
etc., do watch what we say.)
.... now that the aforementioned Jet Stream has entered the
consciousness of the GBP (not to mention the vocabulary of sundry
presenters on tv and radio), it might be an idea to show the thing!
I've been following the saga on...

3rd Flash Flood nr Alston by
Dave Liquorice
The third flash flood on the North Pennines has just occured, well still
is but levels are falling rapidly.
Ash Gill draining the southern flank of Flinty Fell and the northern side
of Yadd Moss is well up. Not quite fully out of it's channel, but it was
at the lower places.
Garrigilll Burn and the other smaller gills that drain the other side of
Flinty Fell are only marginally, if at all,...
