Bizarre sighting of Vantage Pro by
Robin Nicholson
I had rather forgotten to post this before. I was travelling for a day
out to Brighton from Bedford a month or so ago, using the Thameslink
system.
Just before the train crossed the Thames, from north to south,, out of
the right hand windows I suddenly spotted what I am 90% positive was a
Vantage Pro AWS. The odd thing was that it sited more or less at
carriage level, on as far as I can remember...

Jet Stream position ? by
Keith (Southend)
I imagine if we knew the answer to this question long range forecasting
would be a lot more precise, but why is the jet stream stuck in it's
current position this summer, so far south ? What are the possible
reasons for this and why can two years be so different ?

Penzance WR & OT by
Graham Easterling[_2_]
Woke up to some disappointing steady rain. Checked the MetO Penzance
forecast for 09:00, which was sunny, so must have been halucinating.
Still raining at 09:30 so I checked the radar - yes it was real.
Luckily cleared around 11:00 and since then pleasant sunny spells,
(Now it get's really OT)
so popped over to Gwithian for lunch at the Sunset Surf. It's
basically a shed, but has a licenced...

Today's model interpretation (29/07/07) by
Darren Prescott
As usual for a Sunday in the summer half of the year I'm off to the wolves
soon, hence this shorter analysis.
Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon on Thursday. Issued
0512z, 29th July 2007.
The outlook is warm and sunny for the latter half of the week for England
and Wales, with much of Scotland and Northern Ireland seeing cloud and a
risk of rain.

(OT) Meteor by
Ken Cook
Hi, All,
OT but bright meteor seen from Copley at 1133BST. Seemed to be
travelling S to N at an angle roughly 70 degrees to the west. To my
non-expert astronomical eye it looked very bright and I could even
imagine it touching down! I was in the car at the time, so no sound
effects.
Any more sightings?

May/June/July 2007 vs June/July/August 1956? by
nick150971@yahoo.co.uk
I've often heard talk of the phenomenally bad summer of 1956, reckoned
to be the "worst" of the 20th century. Not quite like for like, but
how does May/June/July 2007 compare with June/July/August 1956 in
terms of rainfall and lack of sunshine?
