[WR] Stunning day in S.Essex by
Dave Cornwell[_4_]
You really couldn't get a more stunning day in mid January than today.
Temperature is almost 11C in clear blue skies. There is enough breeze to
keep the air clear and the ground is dry. Fantastic day to be out and
about. (Just returned home before someone states the obvious!)

Austria Snow? by

18 feet for the DM and 10 for the DT and both for the DE.
On the Snow website say "It's been a record-breaking start to 2012 in
the Austrian Tyrol. Between 70-120cm of snow has fallen in western
Austria since last Thursday and it's estimated another metre will have
fallen by Wednesday morning."

Bit of a glitch! by
David Allan
I'm a bit of a newcomer to this group after getting a weather station as a
Christmas present. It's sort of been up and running proper since New Year's
Day and I use the Cumulus software as opposed to Easyweather (which came
with it). Cumulus seems better than Easyweather and was recommended.
Every seems to have been running normally until this evening when the
minimum temperature for today...

met office hints of colder weather setting in late jan / early feb by
Stan[_3_]
about time winter turned up!
UK Outlook for Wednesday 25 Jan 2012 to Wednesday 8 Feb 2012:
Temperatures are expected initially to be around normal for the time of
year, although there is a risk of colder conditions setting in as we
head into February. The most settled conditions are likely across the
southern areas of the UK at first, whilst northern areas will probably
be more unsettled....

Penzance, Still, clear, moonlit, chilly night. by
Graham Easterling[_3_]
An almost totally clear, calm night allowed the temperature to drop to
3.2C, with a touch of ground frost. This was easily the lowest
temperature of 2012, and both the 1st GF & lowest temperature since
1.8C on 10th Dec 2010. The clear skies, which lasted all night, showed
up well on the satellite imagery.
Interesting, it has been misty & less cold just to the east, so it was
one of those rare...

Today's model interpretation (11/01/12) by
Darren Prescott[_4_]
Here is a summary of the NWP output for noon on Sunday.
Issued 0448, 11/01/12
The weekend will end on a cold note with high pressure nearby. This won't
last, however, and much of the following working week will see a changeable
outlook as fronts move eastwards across the UK, bringing rain for most (and,
as ever, the SE will see the least). Beyond that things are less certain as
blocking...
