Who knows ? by

According to Peter Cockcroft on the TV southeast weather slot at
lunchtime, after snow on Saturday night /Sunday morning temps are predicted
to reach 6C on Sunday in London,so in other words the front is going thru.
In reality this happens nine times out of ten so perhaps we coldies
shouldn't be surprised...

Outlook 1feb12 by
Phil Layton
Well, quite astonishing really. Phil Hammond on the BBC Web weather
really unsure what is going to happen at T+72 hours. I sensed a doubt
that the mild air is even going to reach the SE, and he mentioned the
cold here lasting well into next week.
In fact tonights Northwood chart:

Quick update 2/2/12 by
Eskimo Will
I note with interest that last nights FAX T+96 compared with this mornings
FAX T+84 for 12Z Sunday shows the occlusion to be much slower increasing the
snow risk in the SE. Even the GFS 00Z is developing a potentially disruptive
snow situation for Saturday over central and eastern England. For the SW it
could well be rain on low ground (possible ice risk) but even here the
back-tracking of...

Today's model interpretation (2/02/12) by
Darren Prescott[_4_]
Here is a summary of the NWP output for noon on Monday.
Issued 0455, 2/02/12
The week will start with a somewhat messy synoptic situation. It's likely
the front that brings Sunday's snow (in the east) or rain (in the west) will
be lingering close to or over the east of the UK, albeit disintegrating as
pressure builds. As such there may be a little sleet or snow in the east but
that should...

-3.5C light to moderate ENE wind. Everywhere is frozen solid. Sunny all day
pushing the temperature above freezing to +0.7C. Much warmer lower down.
Took a drive up to Hay Tor top car park this morning and it was
tundra-like. -4C with a moderate ENE wind whipping in. Thin snow cover,
remains of a snowman, and the high moor gleaming white in the distance. I
have taken the day off...
