Winter Snow by
Michael Di Bernardo
Surely, there has to be some chance of considerable sonowfall. The Alps and
Scandinavia has recieved snowfall already. It would only take a change in
wind direction to bring in this type of weather.

No Weather this Sunday by
JRM - Alresford Hants
The five day F/Cast shows for Sunday N/A
I assume the BBC means Not Available or
could it be Not Applicable ? Perhaps they cannot
decide what will happen on Sunday ? Perhaps
Sunday has been 'scrubbed' due to lack of interest ?

Today's model interpretation (19/10/03) by
Darren Prescott
Here is a summary of the latest NWP output, for noon (GMT) on Thursday.
Issued 0604z, 19/10/03.
ECMWF: http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Recm1201.gif
A low covers France, while a ridge lies to the north of the UK. This brings
strong ENE'lies across the whole of the UK, although by T+144 the winds
become NE'lies and NNE'lies as the low fills and moves eastwards. A ridge
topples southwards over...

Today's Aqua/MODIS 12.50 image by
Mike Tullett
I hope I'll be forgiven for yet again posting about these images, but
today's 12.50 Aqua image contains some fascinating detail, which probably
wouldn't be obvious from a normal met. satellite As last time, I have
cropped as much of the British Isles as I could and it can be seen he

Just Checking by
Michael McNeil
I noticed the Mailgate Server offered the facility to collect all my
posts together. I thought: "that's handy I can check how close I came
with my forecasts."
Out of the 150+ threads I've posted to in here, a substantial number
have posts from me that have been misattributed. Toward the end (that
is, in my earlier posts) most of the ones I looked at, ascribed to me,
were written by others.
I...

Today's MODIS/Terra Image by
Mike Tullett
A thread earlier this week, started by JPG, prompted me go to the MODIS
site to look at today's image - given the clear skies over most places.
I downloaded the 11.20Z Terra 500m resolution image and cropped/enhanced
again.
It came from this larger image:
http://rapidfire.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/realtime/single.cgi?2003289/crefl1_143.A2003289112001-2003289112500.500m.jpg
which is about 2.5MB

""Killer Storms Head For The UK"" by
stephen, yachtinguniverse
I am no weather expert and do not claim to be, however I am facinated by it
and how it effects me a yachtsman. I saw on BBC Ceefax in the news section
and on Teletext News the headline "Killer Storms Head For The UK" and then
the story reports on the people who where killed in SW France and 100mph
winds. I see from the post above that the Met Office have issued a weather
warning. Are we likely to...

Efficacy of Cloud seeding by
Soundara Rajan
Hello Everyone,
In the state of Karnataka,in India, where I live, the government has
awarded a contract to an American company to carry out cloud seeding
operations. I would be grateful to know from the group whether cloud
seeding is a proven method to bring on the rain.

Ridges and troughs and etc by
Michael McNeil
I seem to have the gist of these now. I can't think why it took me so
long to drop on it.
When the time of the phase of the moon is near enough on the half hour
the chances of a ridge or trough are very strong. Silly me!
Only problem is I seem to be heading for another compulsive mania with
the Shipping Broadcast as the only decent one is at 05:35. Damn the
beeb to hell and all who fail in her.

BBCi Weather - Full weather section by
Vidcapper
When I check the Regional 24 Hour forecast - S & SW section for
Gloucester (the nearest location to me), their forecast temperatures are
routinely 2C higher than what I actually record just 9 miles away.
Has anyone else noticed similar differences for their local areas?
I haven't kept a log, but perhaps I should.

The main page for all the cameras is

when its all green outside and mild during December, January and February

PC Temperature measurements by
Jonathan Stott
I want to be able to record outdoor temperature on my PC (and be able to
stick the temp on my website etc.) but I don't want to have to buy a
full weather station for £hundreds. I also have no way of mounting
anything as I'm in University accommodation, so have to make do with
dangling something out of my window (which conveniently enough is nearly
always in shade). Something that could...
