October record max by
Richard Dixon[_2_]
I notice that the October maximum is 29.5 from Cambridgeshire in 1985.
Countryfile mootes 27s on Friday (30th October) - I wonder if anywhere will
get near. Gravesend?
Off to a wedding on Saturday - I doubt my friend would have planned for
(potentially) such good weather in October!

Since when was Northern England part of Scotland? by
David Allan
If I hear the BBC weather presenter say one more time 'England and Wales,
hot and sunny... Scotland and Northern Ireland cloudy and wet...' I think
I'll scream!
Do they not look at the satellite images and rainfall radar? You can draw a
line from just north of the Wash down to the southwest of Wales and it's
CLOUDY to the north of that line. Here in the northeast of England it's
raining. So...

Ping Keith by
Ian Bingham
Hi Keith,
We keep hearing about the wall-to-wall sunshine y'all are getting down
there, you lucky people, but I notice that Shoeburyness has been reporting a
steady 0.2mm a day rainfall for the last 4 days. Can that be right? Here,
by contrast, we have light rain/drizzle with the cloud low on the hills.
Ian Bingham,
Inchmarlo, Aberdeenshire.

Hurn maximum 1st October, 2011 by
Martin Rowley
.... I haven't got a decent data-base of Hurn maximum temperatures, but
as far as I can see, in a record since at least 1977, yesterday's (1st
October) value of 25.2°C declared as the maximum comfortably beat the
previous highest in those 35 years for October: this was 24.5°C, also
on the 1st October in 1997.
Interestingly, in that October, a further four days recorded daytime
maxima =...

[WR] Haytor 29/9/11 (Hot again) by
Will Hand
Another baking hot and sunny day.
Max. +22.2C. (average max. is 15C)
Nice and cooler now at 1840 at +16.5C, but obviously still warm.
This is the advantage of this time of year, the heat doesn't linger into the
evening.

October record gone! by
Jim Smith[_6_]
29.5c recorded at Gravesend beating the 29.4 in March, Cambs, in n1985.
It's not out of the question that someone may have beaten 30c once all the
days figures come in.
Amazing to think that no June 13th has been as hot as today.
Jim.
