Good forecast from the UKMO by
Dave Cornwell[_4_]
Well despite the models doing their own thing and chopping and changing
quite a bit over the last week or so the UKMO have been very accurate
with their forecasts this week, at least they have for my region. Will's
appraisals of the situation in the last few days have also proved pretty
accurate and helpful as have Darren's.

[WR] Southend-on-Sea by
Keith (Southend)G
Snowing since about 9pm
Fine snow blowing around and gathering in drifts.
"Big snow little snow, little snow big snow", as the eskimo's would
say, it's the latter. Fine snow that's building up in amounts.
Just driven back from Rayleigh and grit seems to be no effect on the
roads.

Very large high pressure area by
Togless
One of the BBC forecasters mentioned the unusual size of the high pressure
system (if that's the correct terminology) extending essentially from the
east coast of Russia all the way across Europe to the UK. He said that he
had never seen high pressure over such a large area before. Could anyone
please explain the significance of this - if there is any! :-)
Cheers...

[WR] S.Essex snow depth - 16cm by
Dave Cornwell[_4_]
Just done a few measurements and range on the level back garden grass is
15-20cm. Drifted against the garage doors is about 50cm. Snow started
slowly at 8pm and there was still light snow when I looked out at 4.30
a.m. Needless to say it is very pretty.
No gritting on at least one of the main roads last night but not sure it
would have done aa lot. Out with the camera now.

Deep Snow - Wolverhampton by
Graham
I'm amazed just how much snow has fallen in Staffordshire, I was only
expecting a couple of cms!
I was going to Norfolk today for the weekend but cancelled thinking all the
snow would be there and I wouldn't be able to get back tomorrow.
Snow turned a bit sleety just before it stopped around 21.30
Current temp here -0.2c

No luck here... by
Nick[_3_]
Very rapid end to this phase of the cold spell, at least, here in the
Southampton area and adjacent coastal central southern England. Around
1630 it was still bitterly cold just north of Chichester with the odd
bit of snow. This stopped but as I headed west to the Havant area it
appeared to change to (fairly light) rain by just before 1800 and by
the time I arrived in Southampton (1845 or so)...

BIG BIG DISCLAIMER warning.

The forecast for February-March-April is also very uncertain, but hints
at an outcome that is colder than we have become accustomed to in the
last decade.
