Rainfall radar Suffolk ?! and see Ned Flander's post above by Dave Cornwell
I've been aware that the rainfall radar is less accurate for fine rain but today has really puzzled me. It was pouring down from at least 10 a.m till 8p.m in East Suffolk today and everywhere else that I drove through down the A12. It was quite fine rain but enough to cause flooding on the side roads. When I got home and looked at the day's radar there was only some patchy light blue echos...

Scottish scientists have found a way of using the waste products from the manufacture of whisky to make biofuel to power our thirsty cars. The more whsy we dring, the more biofuel that can be created. http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2010/aug/17/whisky-biobuel-scotland Here’s Tae Us! Wha’s Like Us? Damn Few. And They’re A’ Deid :-(

Wednesday's weather by Steve J
Not only was Wednesday the coldest August day (15.5C) since 1999 (15.0C) in Coventry , it was also the wettest day at any time of year in Coventry (40.6mm) since the 20th July 2007, and the wettest August day for six years - so much for 'high summer'!. August has now recorded over 100mm of rain in our region for the second time in three years, confirming its reputation as the wettest month of...

south east sympathy by David Haggas
For perhaps the first time since May we have a situation over the past few days where the SE of England is actually getting more weather than places north and west. Tomasz Schafernaker seemed very concerned about it in his 1300 forecast and looked vexed when he mentioned Northern Ireland had wall to wall sun.

26 hours rain Solihull by JT
1700hr It has now been raining since 1300 y'day. The first spots as we stood on the 18th tee. Torrential in the night and we woke to heavy drizzle that has continued all day. Its 12C and dark and grey and bloody miserable. The radar shows the heavy drizzle well. Still nowhere near the record of 59 hours in London in June 1903. JT Dorridge
