Penzance 26th Sept by
Graham Easterling[_2_]
Much breezier and hazier than yesterday. Also a bit more in the way of
patchy cloud. As a result maximum temperature (so far) 18.1C -
degree down on yesterday.
Talking of yesterday, the tip of Cornwall seemed to have some weather
of it's own, almost calm & sunny. I notice that the MetO has the
sunniest place in the SW as Camborne at 4.6 hours. There was certainly
well 6 hours here. Virtually...

"Great British Weather Disasters" -- out today by
Philip Eden
I'm loath to use this group for personal advertising but
I am persuaded that the information would be welcomed by
some.
"Great British Weather Disasters" is published today by
Continuum, and should be available from all the usual
sources, including Telegraph Books, although - I hope it
doesn't need saying - Telegraph Newspapers have no control
over anything I've written. The chapter headings...

Meteocentre near-realtime Lightning over Europe: new data sourceadded! by
cpweather
Hi everyone,
MetOffice SFUK is still not available, and the Blitzortung Boltek
network is not very reliable.
I now have a new data source, which is based on an ATD network. It is
the Zeus system from the National Observatory of Athens. We will be
using this data at our University to monitor synoptic systems and
lightning occurrence. Soon, I will superimpose hourly mean sea-level
pressure...

Today's model interpretation (26/09/08) by
Darren Prescott[_2_]
Note: I've to leave early today - hence this is a shorter analysis. Normal
service will be resumed tomorrow morning.
Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon (GMT) on Tuesday. Issued

The middle of the week still looks unsettled with low pressure close to the
UK. Northern areas will bear the brunt of the wind and rain, with all areas
