Default no more daily weather forecasts

breaking news.

bbc and meto have decided to stop issuing daily weather forecasts.

according to insiders, weather forecasts will only be issued when the
met office think they will be correct.

this will leave the public to fend for themselves when forecasts are not
issued.

periods of "no forecast" may last for days if not weeks , especially in
winter , when confidence is low, especially at T240.

on TV , the bcc will play random pages from CEEFAX to fill the space
when forecasts are not issued.

on the internet, the bcc and met office webpages will be substituted
with links to webcams of the sky outside.

critics say this is just they latest attempt to make forecasting
accuracy statistics look better.

other weather agencies are now looking to follow suit.

Oh, come on! Let's be honest. What he proposes is down right idiotic to say
the least. But is there anyone in this group who would not agree that any
change in the way the media report the weather forecast would definitely be
a change for the better? I sometimes think that 2 minutes of blank screen
would tell me more than some of the so called waffling presenters they use
at the moment. Me, I'd be in full favour of a Tom & Jerry cartoon in place
of some of them. And some of those would certainly benefit from a good bang
on the head from a large wooden mallet. :-)

It's nothing to do with the BBC or the Met Office but is rather
obviously a laborious attempt to have a go at Dawlish and his 10-day
forecasts. The poster's name is new to me but it is probably the same
person as zaax (zaxx?) but he's too cowardly to say who he is. My
guess is that Will has detected the point of the post but wishes to
disguise his reaction, whether favourable or unfavourable.
As for your comments on the media, well, I agree entirely, but
that wasn't what it was about.

It's the foul-mouthed Terry Tibbs, who keeps disguising himself to try to
avoid attempts to kill-file him. On one occasion, he even went so far as to
disguise himself as Paul. There's hero-worship for you! ;-)

It was amusing. You, however, are not. And your comment smacks of
pot, kettle and black.

LOL.

The big difference, of course, is that Dawlish is producing his
forecasts purely for his - and hopefully our - amusement. and not as a
service to the public for which he is being paid.

I don't think it was him. The post was genuinely amusing and did not
contain any abuse. If it IS Terry Tibbs, and he continues to post in
this vein, then I will no longer have a problem with him.
