Looks like Danielle could be a hurricane by this evening according to
the forecast - and probably tracking to the northwest.

Excellent news! That will make next week's weather most interesting.

It seems to have travelled from the other side of the globe in a very
straight line...lol

What makes this site through a wobble every few storms and why does it
not seem to get corrected very quickly?

What it could do is introduce a lot of tropical air as well as
possible energy into the North Atlantic, leading to some warm
temperatures at the start of September, for the UK, but I agree that
it could also put some extra energy into the jet and bring some
storms. Nothing certain - it never is with ex-hurricanes that head our
way.

I was tempted to forecast settled and warm at T240, this evening, but
the uncertainty that will be provided by Danielle affects my
confidence. Warm and settled at the start of Sept. is certainly there
in the models though.

Danielle became the second hurricane the Atlantic season this
evening:

Looks like Danielle's dying. The forecast talks of W-SW shear increasing
over the next 24 hours but it looks to me more like N'ly shear sweeping the
upper cloud away at the moment and dragging in drier air, presumably the
Saharan air that's also bedevilled previous attempts at storm formation in
the area.

If Danielle's engine can't be restarted, there's always the next one on the
rank at about 13N 23W.

Right again Graham, this is getting boring :-)

Earl is predicted to get to class M 110 mph by Tuesday.
