I see from Philip Eden's site http://www.climate-uk.com/ that this November
has currently just nudged to a below average CET and has just moved above 100% rainfall. With the cooler and perhaps wetter weather expected towards the end of the week, I wonder if this month will provide the cold and wet November that some would like to see prior to winter. Victor |

Victor Hi, Victor, Mean temp here (Copley 253 metres asl) is +1.5C on the 1971 - 2000 average, so not at all in line with Philip's figures - he has NE England as +0.5C. I suspect lowland sites are used here and that the hills have been relatively warmer. In that case, will our hills have a mild winter forecast and the lowland a cold one? Victor Interesting. PE was on FiveLive earlier commenting on the unusual run of cold, frosty nights we've experienced over the last week or so. He also added that he didn't think there would be a white Christmas. |

It looks like being a cold, dry and very sunny November here. My mean
temp so far (to 22nd) has been 6.3C. It has dropped by 1.6C in the past week. Rainfall has been 32.4mm. The averages for the station at Craibstone (similar height but a bit more rural) for the whole month are 5.4C and 84.2mm. Given the cold forecast the mean looks as though it will drop below average. I can't see there being anywhere near enough rainfall for that to be average. I don't keep a sunshine record but many days have seen lengthy spells of sunshine. Today there was not a cloud in the sky throughout and there have only been about 6 cloudy days the entire month. All the sunshine is much appreciated after the horrible, gloomy October.
