It's freezing in the US Midwest - is it WARM in Scandinavia / Russia? by Weather Guy[_2_]
If it's well below normal temps here in the US midwest and Southern Ontario, does that mean it's warmer than usual on the other side of the planet? Has the center of "cold" moved closer to us, meaning that it's warmer than normal somewhere in Scandinavia or northern Russia?

Weather in UK stats by jeggae
Anyone know where I can get weather stats, month by month over the last five years. Two graphs will be okay, one for sunshine/temperature and one for rain. Maybe region by region. Thanks

Weather and Health. by Weatherlawyer
I got this in a UCAR newsletter: The COMET Program is pleased to announce the publication of Weather and Health. This 2-hour course will help meteorologists and others broaden their understanding of the impacts of weather and climate on public health, including the impacts of heat waves and cold temperatures, winter storms and thunderstorms, flooding, drought, poor air quality, tornadoes,...

This has been an interesting spell. It still is. At least the rest of this day to go it isn't due to expire until the 19th. I was getting leg cramps for tornadoes but saw nothing confirming my suspicions on the US weather warning site. Then this turned up in my in-box just now: Google News Alert for: tornado Tornado victims mourned by families, neighbors WRAL.com - Raleigh,NC,USA

What causes radar ground clutter? by John Doe[_2_]
Hopefully my terminology "ground clutter" is correct. From the (USA) National Weather Service website... Short Range Images -- Rainfall -- 1 Hour Total. I use it whenever there is rain in the area. Sometimes there is a false positive rain indication. I guess that's called ground clutter, but in any case that's what I'm talking about. It usually looks different than rain and the indication is...

21st to 28th October 2008: 11:55. Man, I write some maudlin trash. I am glad I don't have to read it. I wonder what drugs people like Skywise and Dawlish are on to make them want to. I suppose it takes all sorts. I have just been trawling through the stuff I wrote about the last spell ...during it.:

Things you wish you hadn't done when you were younger. by Weatherlawyer
The Upper Swee****er contained native rainbows until October 2003, when a lost and inexperienced hunter set a signal fire that mushroomed into the largest wildfire in California history. So which is more important a few fish or a human being? The inferno burned 422 square miles from the pine forests of Julian to the coastal sage scrub at Miramar. It killed 15 people, destroyed more than 2,200...

FreeWX Wi question by Kickin' Ass and Takin' Names
Anyone running FreeWX Wireless? I have been using it for about a month and continue to have problems with uploading to Weather Underground. I have it running an a stable, reliable laptop 24/7 -- but -- after a few hours it no longer uploads data to Wunderground. When this happens, I reboot the computer, start FreeWX Wi, and it runs normally -- for a few hours then it shuts down.
