Out of curiosity, is there a "grade" assigned to judge the accuracy of a storms forecast? What I'm think, is that we all talk about the weather....hurricanes/tropical cyclones....but is there an objective measurement of how well the forecasters did? I just read that the remnants of Ivan are reforming in the gulf of Mexico right now, and it is now a tropical storm. I thought Ivan went up the east coast and was gone. So I'm not quite sure what they mean by the remnants of Ivan are in the gulf. Craig

With regard to accuracy, what's the life expectancy of the rotating potentiometer inside the weather vane sending unit of the Davis instruments? The reason I ask is that it's a royal pain going up on the roof to retrieve the sending unit for a repair.
